We have a cabin on some mountain land in Paint Rock Valley, Alabama. It wasn't in bad shape, but I didn't think it was spend-the-nightable. Larry and I have been working on it, and had planned to stay in it some this past hunting season. Well, it takes time and we just didn't get it done for this year. We haven't been up there much since christmas. We went Sunday and took some things (we take some things each time we go!) cushions, bed mats, linens etc.The main floor is for the most part finished, just some odds and ends to do. The loft is what we are working on now. It didn't have any thing on the walls and ceiling except insulation board and that was falling down. We have put plywood on the floor and on some of the walls, and cedar on the ceiling and one wall. The main floor already had cedar walls. Greg and Gina helped Larry build the deck. Linda and Felton helped us put the plywood on the floors. Marty and Scott helped with the wood heater and stove pipe. Thanks guys and gals!
I love going to the cabin. It is so peaceful. No traffic, no electricity, no running water, no outhouse (yet)! The cell phones do work, so we aren't totally out of touch. We still have work to do on the outside, too. Someone didn't know what trash bags were and just throwed everything from the porch. Hopefully, we can get a backhoe up there to dig a hole and bury the trash. The scouting camera showed deer all around the cabin. It looked like one of the deer was standing on the porch. I would like to have been there with all those deer around. That would have been a sight.
