Gina's lap quilt

I made Gina's lap quilt with scraps of material left over from the outfits I made her when she was young. I started piecing the top when Gina was in the 6th grade at DAR school in Grant. The picture showing the under side of the quilt is the quilting her sister Susan contributed. I was trying to tell Susan where to quilt next, talk to Jaren, my grandson, and quilt too. Well, I messed up, but it looks good anyway. I wrote a poem to go with the quilt and Larry took it to Gina for her birthday last year 2008. I don't have a copy of the poem, Gina will have to add that on as a comment. It seems I have a habit of starting something and not finishing it until years later. Other things take precedence sometimes.

Finally, after 5 years I have finished my quilt. The squares came as a kit of six each, and I bought them at a Sunday half off everything yard sale in Michigan. The winters up there are long and with not much to do. I spent two winters doing the cross stitch/embroidery, the next winter I started the quilting. Last winter we had just moved back home and I did some quilting on it. My quilt frame was an el cheapo and this quilt is a very large one, so the frame didn't make it through the quilting. I used a lap frame and wal-la...It's done!!

Next is to get my new frames from the attic and get another quilt on it and try to finish it before spring.

Chip off the Ole Block

I guess you can say Marty learned from the best. He got his buck on January 8 2009. And of course Dad was as proud as a peacock for his boy! Marty hasn't been hunting very much this season, but that is good because his business has been the reason.

Marty is owner of WILLIAMS AIR CONDITIONING and REFRIGERATION. He can be trusted to do the job to the best of his ability, and at reasonable rates. Can you tell Mom is his fan and PR manager?

is this the life or what!

Huntin.....
fishing....
fishing.....
huntin.

Larry got this 9 point this morning on our land called "The Rock Pile". He is so happy and excited about it. This deer is the biggest one he has ever gotten, as far as antler spread, 18 1/2 inches wide. He says he is through huntin this year, cuz he got a big one, and now he can start fishin. Well, we will see about that. The season ends January 31 anyway. Why stop now.

By the way, it started snowing here around 1pm today. It isn't sticking but more may come tonight and into tomorrow. Hot tea and hot chocolate weather!! And quilting time too! I might post a picture of a quilt or two if I think about it.
